1. The video files are LARGE and you will require a suitable broadband connection. I would estimate that the minumum will be around 2Mb download speed. Many UK ISPs (providers) are now giving this speed. For example BT Broadband have recently upgraded our Derby Support connection to 8Mb at no additional costs to us.
2. If you are on a dial-up connection then you will probably NOT be able to view the videos at all, or if you can it will be so s.l.o.w. that it will not be worth your while. But don't forget, if you are based in the UK or Ireland we can send you a DVD in the post. It is free, but any donations would be most welcome to defray our costs.
3. The content is designed for Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 or above and use an Active-X connection. You may have to install the Active-X when prompted to view it.
4. If you are using an alternative browser (eg, Firefox) you may require to install a Plug-In to make it work. NB. A "Plug-in" is a small piece of software which is not in the browser as standard but which they offer for compatability with other software. Instruction for installing the Plug-Ins for Firefox (you may need two of them) can be found here (nb. This location may change over time).
5. If it doesn't work for you, please do not complain to MGA. MGA cannot get into a technical discusion abut resolving any problems, and that we will not be responsible for any adverse effects from installing the plugins. What we can advise is that you always create a Restore-Point on your system before installing any software and if it doesn't work, then you can always revert back.
6. One Final Thing: This uses a lot of bandwidth - if you are on a capped tarrif - you could soon use up your limit with a few views of this video. (eg Some people are limited to 3GBytes download per month during weekday working hours (8-5). At other times they may be unlimited. There could also be another problem in that the Windows media player will continue downloading the video file even if the video is paused or stopped. You have to close the video window to stop that happening! In one sense that is good because it stores the whole video clip so that you can go backwards and forwards - but it does have its (bandwidth) downside.
1. There are 2 versions that you can download onto your PC.
2. The First Version is designed to run directly from your PC in exactly the same way as if you had the CD. It contains HTML files and videos in MPG format. The file is zipped so you will need an unzipper to open it up again. I use ZipGenius which you can get free from http:⁄⁄zipgenius.it⁄eng⁄index.php
3. The Second Version is an ISO version from which you can "Burn" your own CDs for distribution. I have successfully used SetupImgBurn_1.3.0.0.exe which is a free download from lots of sites on the web. Just type that into a Search Engine such as Google and you will get lots of hits.
4. If you download the First Version and then wish you had the Second Version as well, then instead of downloading that as well, you can create your own ISO from the First Version with free software such as Folder2Iso_v1.3.exe which I used to create this ISO file.
Warning: Both these are very large downloads and are in the order of 500Mb (half a Gig). If you are on Broadband, then it won't matter too much as you can just leave it for as long as it takes. If you are on dial-up, forget it! If you have problems, please do not come back to MGA as we do not have the resources to handle technical questions.
